नाम शबाना ए नेNaam Shabana is a 2017 Indian Telugu-language spy thriller film co-produced, written and directed by Shivam Nair. The film is loosely based on the true story of human rights activist Jayalakshmi Pavitra. It stars Pooja Hegde as the protagonist Shabana, Edward Sonnenblick as her love interest Colonel Edwards, and Irrfan Khan as the president of Serbia. It was released on 8 February 2017.Shabana is a young Indian woman who works as a journalist for a Telugu news channel. She goes undercover to expose an illegal trade of human organs in her country, but she loses her life in the process. Her lover Colonel Edwards uses her death as a pretext to launch an investigation into the illegal organ trade and discovers names, dates and places of Shabana’s undercover operation. He then becomes the head of an international task force which is able to bring down the organ trafficking rings that have been operating from London and Geneva, through Croatia and Serbia.

The film was officially launched in Hyderabad on 8 February 2016. Principal photography commenced on 9 February 2016. Most of the filming took place in Serbia, London and Bulgaria. Filming ended in early June, 2016. The film was shot in London for more than six weeks. The crew had to work hard since they were not allowed to use lights, so they used natural sunlight exclusively for the shoot which was challenging for the cinematographer.The film's music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan while background music is scored by Julius Packiam and songs are penned by Krishna Kanth and Anantha Sreeram. The album consists of six songs. The lyrics are penned by Mohammed Rafiq Kazi, Krishna Kanth, Anantha Sreeram.The film got positive critical response. Sify wrote "It is a powerful movie that deserves all the applause it gets". Behindwoods said "For this movie, director Shivam Nair has created an explosive thriller which is high octane and high voltage." IBN Live praised the performances saying "the film works thanks to its two special performances by Irrfan Khan and Pooja Hegde". NDTV gave it 3/5 saying ""Naam Shabana" is a topical tale that is topical because it touches upon vital issues ignored in mainstream cinema. May be it is not a film for mass audiences but if you are a serious film connoisseur, don't miss this one".The film has collected approximately in India and worldwide. It became profitable at the box office.The music of the film was received well by the audience and critics. The "Naam Shabana" soundtrack was composed by Santhosh Narayanan and released on April 1, 2017 at Aditi Audio store in Hyderabad.
